Stony Plain Youth Network creates opportunities that help youth learn, connect, and grow through hands-on experiences with local businesses, community partners, and supportive mentors.
Our programs are designed to build confidence, encourage participation, and strengthen community involvement while helping youth explore future pathways in work, education, and entrepreneurship.
Youth volunteer placements
We connect youth with participating businesses in Stony Plain and area so they can volunteer in areas that match their interests. This gives them the chance to learn workplace expectations, build relationships, and gain real-life experience.
Career shadowing and mentorship
Youth can shadow businesses in fields that interest them, helping them discover possible career paths and learn from people already doing the work.
Skill-building opportunities
We support practical learning experiences that help youth develop useful skills. This may include hands-on tasks, business exposure, personal responsibility, and confidence-building activities.
Entrepreneurship and solopreneur support
For youth who want to earn money but are too young to be employed or are having difficulty finding work, we encourage entrepreneurship and solopreneurship. This may include helping them learn basic business skills and giving them tools or equipment to get started.
Community-based activities
We also support youth through activities that keep them active, healthy, and engaged in positive ways outside of school hours and on weekends.
Our programs help youth:
They also help businesses by creating opportunities to mentor future employees, share knowledge, and strengthen their visibility in the community.
